Convenient Air Conditioner Window Unit
An air conditioner window unit is perfect for those extremely hot summers that have you sweating constantly. They’re perfect for a small home for a single room, and come in many different styles from many different manufacturers. For example, you can get portable split ductless units from companies like Sanyo, Coleman, Payne, and Cooper (yes, these will fit in your window). You can also get small wall mount systems from Fedders, Haier, LG, and American Standard. These will also fit windows. Carrier, Friedrich, and Frigidaire also make some of the best models on the market today. Usually though, you’ll want to avoid central and vertical air conditioners if you need a unit for your window.
Installation of window air conditioners is easy enough, as is the maintenance which you may or may not run into; depending on how long you own the appliance. The first thing to do is get mounting brackets out and attach them to the window. If the unit is not straight, you will need to fiddle with this. The next thing you need to do is open the window up enough to be able to fit your unit in it (you’ll probably figure why a vertical one is not recommended right about now). Place the unit carefully on the brackets. Then, close the window so it snuggly secures the machine in place.
After that, look to the sides of the unit. You’ll notice there are probably parts that pull out make the air conditioner fully fill out the window. They pull out to each side to further help the unit stick securely in place. You may have to make your own holes to secure this with screws, or you may have extensions that press firmly enough to the window that this isn’t necessary. If you plan on moving this to different rooms from time to time, you may skip this part. Sometimes it’s recommended that you use some sort of insulation to prevent air from being let outside.
See, that wasn’t very difficult, was it? If you don’t feel comfortable doing it, there’s no shame in having a professional (or someone that thinks they’re a professional) handle it. If you have don’t have your own tools, having someone help you will also help you save money at the same time.
