Take a Portable Room Air Conditioner With You
A portable room air conditioner is ideal for those interested in cooling just themselves off, as opposed to an entire home. There are many different models of air conditioners out there, so it can be difficult to distinguish between those designed for entire homes, those designed for rooms, and those designed for one individual. Considering that brands like American Standard, Haier, Freidrich, and Sanyo and Frigidaire make every different style, making a mistake when you buy could be easy. For example, there are central air conditioners, wall systems, window units, and vertically orientated machines. You’ll want to avoid these kinds of air coolers, as they may be mini and compact, but not portable.
One brand that specializes in portable air conditioners is Soleus. Their PE2-07R-62DB is highly rated because it’s relatively inexpensive (coming in at just under $300), very quiet, and vey stylish. It looks like a computer desktop tower. Another very solid model is from Amcor. The ALT12000E boasts up to 12,000 BTUs (which is where the model name is derived). It’s slightly more expensive than the Soleus model mentioned above due to the fact that it has a fancy LED display. It comes in at just over $350.
If you still feel like you need more cooling power on the go, you might consider the Soleus KY-36. It has 14,000 BTUs of cooling capacity, which is pretty close to the highest you’ll see on the market. It is pricey though, usually running between $550 and $700. That’s not all, though. ACP has a new model out called the 1400H that has the same BTU power as the KY-36 but also includes a heater for those cold days. It’s truly a take anywhere anytime model. Of course, you can forget the fact that it also acts as an air purifier. Surprisingly, those extra features don’t make it that much more expensive. It still runs around $500 to $700.
So depending on how much you want to spend, how often you plan to use it, and whether or not you’ll want a heater, you can find a great unit to take with you for any occasion. Just don’t get a stationary one by accident.
